One more day before one of New York’s hottest joints opens in Manila.
Before 10 am even hits, we’re already expecting a line of media people and food enthusiasts forming outside SM Megamall, where The Halal Guys is set to open tomorrow, October 13, 2015.
It’s been a long wait since the announcement, and we won’t lie that we’re damn curious. And excited. The Halal Guys first opened in 1990 in New York as a hotdog cart but later served halal food to cater to Muslim taxi drivers. Word caught on, and soon enough, everyone was in line. The popular joint has since then expanded globally – this including Manila, which Jaime Daez, owner of Fully Booked, brought here.
There are only four categories (Platter, Sandwiches, Sides and Dessert) in the menu, so it’ll probably won’t take as long to choose. The best-selling gyro and chicken will most likely get plenty of orders, but personally, I’m looking forward to some lamb, falafels, and a bucketful of The Halal Guys’ legendary white sauce.
